It's occurred to me that since our membership shifts and our backgrounds vary so much, it might be good to compare what we're capable of. More to the point, I was thinking we might be able to help each other pick up relevant skills, if not hone the ones we already have.
If people are looking to train or think they could help others, why don't we discuss that here? I know at least a few of us don't have backgrounds in combat, for example. On our first day here I met someone who wasn't familiar with firearms but might get good use out of the skill, for another.
In my case, I have experience training others and can help with hand-to-hand combat. I can work with people ranging from average human strength to well above it. I've got some skill with swords and knives, but I wouldn't compare that to someone who specializes in them, and that's something I'd like to work on. In terms of non-combative skills, if someone wants to work on something like cooking, I'm reasonably helpful there.
Let's see how we can help each other improve.
[ooc: Please feel free to thread-hop/jack here, that's what this is for!]

[ So much so that the focus here seems to be on combat skills. She still wonders if she truly understands what she signed up for, if the others are just as unsure. ]
I can show you the bonds that hold each person, each world, in its rightful place in the universe. If that is of some use. [ She hesitates a moment. ] And I can show you how I severe those bonds.

[Coming from his background, martial skills were absolutely essential, and so these tasks have felt natural at least in this much... Even if so many other things are incredibly foreign]
I'm unsure I follow what you mean by bonds though.

I would like to learn how to protect rather than fight. Can you teach me?
no subject
You're not the first one to express that sentiment. One of the people I train with is more motivated by the idea of helping others than anything else, and that's something I can personally agree with.
To me, strength exists to protect. So I think I should be able to help you, with that in mind.

because that sounds fascinating, and he's being honest, a little terrifying.]
That sounds like a powerful gift.

It can be, if well used. I should like to learn how to use it well.
no subject
I'd like to know how exactly it works, myself. I feel like I might have a basic understanding of the concept- there's something similar where I come from- but I wouldn't know unless I could see it.
[what he doesn't say is he's the one who can do... something not entirely like, but not entirely unlike that.]

If it would not be too much trouble, would it be possible see this? I'd be willing to offer something in return, but... [ Vague gestures at Lucina's own skills, they're probably not something she's likely interested in. ]

[ Everyone must have one of those. ]
Why do you want to see it?

... I suppose my reason is closely linked with the story I wish to tell.

[ asking because she doesn't know that she's understanding this right. ]

Would you be frightened of me if I can see your memories, Chihiro?
no subject
I think it would be scary at first. But our memories aren't only ours most the time. They're something we share with each other. Having an ability that lets you see what I remember might even help me remember things that I don't see as clearly anymore. So I think in the end it would be pretty cool. Maybe hard sometimes, but not scary. Not from you!

I'm deeply curious about whatever it is that you're offering, though. What do you mean by bonds? And what is the implication of severing them?
no subject
These bonds are-- [ She really has no understanding of the physics here, only the mythology, the feel of things. ] A glass is a glass, rather than sand, because of these bonds that hold them in place. Severe them and you get ash and dust.
no subject
I'm assuming you're not speaking literally of ashes and dust. [Sorry, ma'am, he's one of those.] Is there an example you can give me>
